Whisperly (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is designed for anonymous voice conversations between adults. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use Whisperly.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

This Policy applies to all adults who access or use Whisperly, whether as guests or through an account (if we offer registration).

Whisperly is for users 18+ only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 and ask you not to use the Service if you are under 18.

2. Information We Collect

A. Guest Users

You can use Whisperly as a guest without providing your real name, email, or phone number. For guests, we typically collect:

A random guest ID and basic profile preferences (e.g., username, avatar, gender) that you choose.
Technical data such as IP address, approximate region, device and browser information, and session timestamps.
Limited session and call metadata (e.g., when a call started/ended, whether the connection failed or was skipped) to help improve reliability and safety.

B. Registered Accounts (If Enabled)

If you sign up for an account (for example using email or a third-party provider), we may collect:

Email address and basic account credentials or OAuth identifiers.
Display name, avatar, and any profile settings you choose to provide.
Account-level preferences such as language, theme, or friend relationships.

We use this information only to provide account features, security, and support.

C. Voice and Conversation Data

Whisperly is built around real-time voice. Voice data is transmitted between participants during a call and processed in real time.
We do not record or store the audio of your conversations for long-term playback.
We may keep limited technical logs about call quality and connection state (for example, if a call failed, reconnected, or was skipped) to diagnose issues and improve the Service.

D. Cookies, Storage, and Analytics

We use local storage, cookies, or similar technologies to remember session state (for example, your guest ID, onboarding completion, or theme).
We may use privacy-focused analytics tools to understand traffic patterns, feature usage, and overall performance. These analytics are not used to build marketing profiles about you.
Some third-party tools (such as Hotjar or similar) may collect anonymized or pseudonymous usage data about how you interact with the product to help us improve the experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve Whisperly and its features.
Connect you with other users for real-time voice conversations.
Detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, and technical issues.
Monitor reliability, call quality, and connection performance.
Understand aggregate usage (for example, how often features are used).
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service, including investigating misuse or safety concerns.

4. What We Do Not Do

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We do not record and store your voice conversations for replay or advertising.
We do not share your information with advertisers for targeted ad campaigns or third-party marketing lists.
We do not build detailed advertising profiles about you based on your conversations.

5. Sharing of Information

We may share limited information in the following situations:

Service providers: We may use third-party infrastructure (for example, hosting, databases, analytics, or communication tools) to operate Whisperly. These providers process data on our behalf under agreements that limit their use of your information.
Safety and legal reasons: We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to: (a) comply with applicable law, regulation, or legal process; (b) protect the rights, safety, or property of Whisperly, our users, or others; or (c) investigate and respond to reports of abuse, threats, or illegal behavior.
Business changes: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, data may be transferred as part of that process, subject to continued protections consistent with this Policy.

6. Children’s Privacy (18+ Only)

Whisperly is strictly for adults. We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use information from anyone under 18 years of age.

If we learn that a user is under 18, we may take steps to block access and remove associated data.

7. Data Security and Retention

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we collect, but no online service can guarantee perfect security.
We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy (for example, maintaining your guest or account state, preventing abuse, and improving reliability), or as required by law.
Connection logs, error reports, and safety-related data may be kept longer if necessary to investigate misuse or comply with legal obligations.

8. Your Choices and Controls

You can stop using Whisperly at any time. Closing your tab or app ends active sessions.
If you have an account, you may be able to update or delete certain information via in-app settings (for example, username or avatar).
You can request more information about your data or ask for corrections or deletion where applicable by contacting us.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Whisperly evolves. When we do, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this page.

If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to let you know (for example, by highlighting the changes in the app or on the website). If you continue to use Whisperly after the updated Policy becomes effective, you agree to the revised Policy.
